Dear Friends, AFACT is a partnership of parishes working to make our community a better place to live. Our mission flows from a shared faith in God who calls us to serve our neighbors in love. The heart of our ministry is listening to individuals tell their stories and helping people connect with others to make changes in our community they could never make alone. We hope you share our vision for this community. Please support AFACT with your prayers and participation. Become a part of this exciting ministry by making a financial donation to help us expand our work throughout the city. God's Blessings, AFACT Board of Directors

AFACT News - Fall 2010
A "Call to Care" for Children's Health. AFACT members gathered to pray for children without health care at a prayer vigil in Anchorage. The vigil came on the heels of Governor Parnell's veto of a bill that would have expanded health-care coverage for 1,300 additional children under Denali KidCare.Holding uninsured children in their hearts, AFACT leaders hope for a solution that will ensure that all Alaska children have affordable and accessible health care and will continue to work with the governor and legislature toward that end. Rasmuson Foundation Grant. AFACT is the recipient of a multi-year grant from the Rasmuson Foundation to develop and sustain a rigorous program to train new professional organizers to meet a critical need in Alaska. AFACT has two full-time staff members at this time and greatly needs additional community organizers. AFACT is very grateful to the Rasmuson Foundation for making possible the new training program which begins in January 2011. Four-day Statewide Leadership Training in October will welcome AFACT leaders from across the state. Learning the steps in the organizing process and engaging with the faith principles and philosopy underlying faith-based community organizing is central to the training.
