Gloria Dei
Lutheran Church is a friendly, inviting
congregation, and we hope you will worship with us.
Our sanctuary,
dedicated in 1980, is a lovely, light-filled place of worship, a blend
of traditional and modern. The stained glass window, depicting the Good
Shepherd, provides a beautiful backdrop to the altar. It was crafted in
1889, by a British artist for
Trinity
Episcopal Church in Howard, South Dakota, and was a gift to Gloria Dei,
together with the hand-carved chancel furnishings, two smaller stained
glass windows, and the bell, which has called the faithful to worship
for more than a century.
We worship on Sunday mornings at 8:30 and 11:00 between September and
May and at 9:30 during the summer months. We celebrate Holy Communion at all worship services,
using the Lutheran Book of Worship, With One Voice, and other
contemporary sources of music.
We offer evening worship during the school year on Sundays beginning at 5:01 with a community meal, followed by Sunday school for adults and children together — engaging people of all generations in a service of praise, prayer, and communion. During the summer, we worship at 7:00 on Wednesday evenings using the Holden Evening Prayer.
Our adult choir, guitar group, musical ensembles, and soloists provide special music throughout the year. The adult
choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings during the school year and welcomes everyone —
the only requirement: that you love to sing.
Children are always welcome in worship, but we do provide a staffed
nursery for infants and children ages
3 and younger during worship services .
